sweet sadness

I was reading Desolation Island this week (amazing book, by the way) and as I came to the final heart-rending chapter, I was absolutely inspired. I had an idea in my head that I had to draw...(I know, this doesn't look inspired, but it's just a rough sketch of my idea.)

I came to the part in the chapter when Stephen is talking to Louisa Wogan about love, which is right after she kisses him on the cheek for bringing her a thoughtful gift. Stephen, of course, is still crazy about Diana; I was intent on capturing the scene, including Stephen's reaction to Louisa's sweet gesture as well as him being reminded of Diana. sigh. <3

Anyway, I know this is anatomically WHACK because I'm terrible at drawing things that are in my head, but please let me know what you think of the general idea/expressions and what I could do better (in GENERAL). Thanks!
